At Padel LK, we are proud to use the 1–7 ranking system to classify players based on their skill level and experience. This system provides a clear framework for understanding where you stand in your padel journey and helps you set achievable goals for improvement. If you're unsure of your ranking, our friendly team is always happy to assist.

Note: Having a ranking is not essential at Padel LK and you can enjoy 100% friendly matches with your peers if you do not want to to compete. We look forward to having a mix of casual and competitive players at Padel LK.

The 1–7 Ranking System at Padel LK

  1. Beginner (1.0–2.5):

  2. Intermediate (2.6–4.0):

Padel LK, the largest indoor Padel Tennis facility in Ireland, is set to open its doors in Ballysimon, Limerick in January 2025. The state-of-the-art venue will feature eight courts, a gym area with group classes, a retail space, and spectator areas, making it the ultimate destination for Padel enthusiasts.

Padel LK is the brainchild of local Limerick entrepreneur Peter Brazil, who has joined forces with fellow Limerick natives Cian McNamara, and Eimear McManus to bring the facility to life. Together, they form the founding team behind this project.

“We are incredibly excited to announce the launch of Padel LK,” said Peter Brazil, Managing Director and Founder of Padel LK. “Padel is growing at a phenomenal rate worldwide, and we are proud to contribute to this exciting trend by creating a top-tier venue here in Limerick. Our mission is to build a strong, sustainable foundation for Padel in Limerick and provide a space where people of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the sport.”

The facility will offer a range of amenities designed to cater to both casual and serious players including warm-up zones and a retail shop.  Padel LK offers racket rentals and lessons with qualified coaches to help players learn or enhance their Padel skills. The opening will create up to ten new jobs for the local community.

“Our mission is to make Padel accessible to everyone, regardless of age or skill level,” added Cian McNamara, co-investor. “The beauty of Padel is that it is a game that people can pick up quickly, and we can’t wait to bring it to the people of Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, and beyond.”

Eimear McManus, a passionate Padel player and investor, also expressed her excitement. “I fell in love with Padel three years ago and I am thrilled that Limerick will now have such an incredible indoor facility. It is a game that everyone can enjoy, and I am excited to be part of this journey.

Padel LK will open in January 2025, and court bookings will be managed through the Padel LK mobile application, with reservations opening shortly. For more information about the facility, membership options visit www.padellk.ie or follow @padel_lk on Instagram for the latest updates. General enquiries can be sent to hello@padellk.ie

Understanding the Scoring Systems in Padel: Advantage System vs. Golden Point

Here at Padel LK in Limerick, scoring mechanisms play a critical role in determining game outcomes, especially when the score reaches a tie at 40-40, commonly referred to as "deuce." Two systems often used to break this tie are the advantage system and the golden point. Let’s explore how they differ and when they might be applied.

Advantage System

The advantage system is similar to the one used in tennis. When the score reaches deuce, the next point becomes crucial as it grants one side the advantage. Here’s how it works:

  • If the serving team wins the point, they gain the "advantage."
  • Winning the point after gaining the advantage secures the game for the team with the advantage.
  • If the opposing team wins the next point, the score resets to deuce, and the cycle repeats until one team wins back-to-back points after gaining the advantage.

This system introduces an additional layer of strategy and endurance, as teams may battle through multiple deuces before concluding the game.

Golden Point

The golden point system offers a more streamlined alternative. When the score hits deuce, the next point is decisive—whoever wins this point wins the game.

  • There’s no advantage awarded.
  • The golden point eliminates prolonged back-and-forth exchanges, often speeding up the pace of the game.

This method simplifies the process, creating high-stakes moments that demand sharp focus and execution.

We opt for the Golden Point rule here in Limerick but for any friendly matches, you can discuss the options with your opponents.
